Early Morning Bonding with Dad.

My father was a wonderful man. He was a father, husband, and a friend to many. To me he was more than just a father, he was a role-model. He could seemingly work for days on end with only a couple of hours of sleep in between, and even then, most nights you'd find him awake, watching tv, instead of sleeping. He  was charismatic, kind, loving, and humorous. I frequently remember the times when I'd be nervous before a special event in my life, such as the day before going into a new school. I'd find myself unable to sleep and after a couple hours of tossing and turning, then I would get out of bed and walk around.

Several times, I'd walk out into the living room and notice my father awake, watching television. It was times like this that I would end up staying up for hours talking to him. Our conversations could range from what we were seeing on television, such as the rules of poker, or just some funny jokes we would tell each other, I can't quite remember any of the jokes we'd told each other, but I always remember laughing in the early morning with him. It was moments like this that made me realize that my father was always there for me when I needed him most. It's pretty funny how the most unforgettable moments can be so trivial.

On other days, my siblings and I would spend some nights hanging out at our friend's house, until the early morning. We could simply call him on a whim in the early morning asking if he could drive us home and without a second thought he'd always be willing to pop over and pick us up. He was a very reliable father to us when we needed him. He'd even drive us to school every day before going to work. Several times over the past couple of weeks he'd even drove me to and from work. No matter if he was tired or under the weather, he always put his family first. With a father like him you could always count on him to be there when you were in need of a lift. One of the benefits of having a dad that was always on the road.

Dad, thank-you for everything you've given us – and the warmth and love you shared during your precious time on earth. You may have left us in a sense, but your memories will live on in our hearts. We all miss you so much already.
