A Yellow Rose

For 40 years, I've looked across the table and saw the love of my life was sitting there. The thought of my husband, Jim, no longer be there breaks my heart. Jim, you were the love of my life. With your passing I'm left with several wonderful memories that we'd shared through our lives together.

One memory I have was when we'd first began dating. James told me that he was going to: "buy me a yellow rose every day for a week, and then one every week for a month, and finally one every month onwards." The first three days he kept to his promise and arrived with a yellow rose, but on the fourth he arrived empty-handed and said: "darn, roses are expensive." Unfortunately, I'd already fallen in love with him by day 3.
