Obituary for Rosemary Hawthorne (Rickert)

Rosemary Hawthorne
(July 27, 1925 – November 20, 2019)

The Lord peacefully called home Rosemary Hawthorne, age 94, wife of the late Herbert Melvin Hawthorne, on November 20, 2019 at People Care AR Goudie Nursing Home.

Rosemary was the daughter of Morley Menno B. Rickert and Irene Elizabeth Lang. She was pre-deceased by her sister Hazel Ledingham and brothers Donald Earl Rickert and Graham Franklin Rickert.
Rosemary was blessed by her three sons: Herbert Rickert Hawthorne (Janice) of Atlanta, Graham George Hawthorne (Connie Rodgers) of Elmira, and Paul David Hawthorne (Susan) of Kitchener. Rosemary was also a loving grandmother to six grandchildren: Jennifer Middleton (Wallace), Heather Hawthorne, Joshua Hawthorne (Kimberly), Emily Vanderwood (Samuel), Alex Rodgers (Mitchell Besszong) and Jon Hawthorne. She was a great grandmother to: Hannah, Jesse, Bethany, Jacob, Christa, Stephen and Rebekah Middleton, Thomas and Mia Cobbs, Lana and Chloe Hawthorne, and Penny and Clara Vanderwood. Her younger brother, Gerald Morley Rickert, and several nieces and nephews also remain.
Rosemary loved the Lord and was a member of St. Andrews Presbyterian Church.
Rosemary was a stay at home mom who, later in life, enjoyed 22 years of managing the Campus Shop at the University of Waterloo. After her retirement, she spent 13 years driving seniors to their appointments through RAISE of Waterloo Region.
Rosemary, a woman with a thankful heart, a compassionate hand, and gentle spirit, will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed.

“But let your adorning be the hidden person of the heart with the imperishable beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which in God's sight is very precious.”
1 Peter 3:4 ESV

Glory to God for Rosemary's 94 years of life.

Private Cremation has taken place. A private family service will be held at a later date. As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Red Cross would be appreciated by the family (cards available at the funeral home). Visit www.henrywalser.com for Rosemary's memorial.
