The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Peter Shaw can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Thank you.

Condolence From: Gord Goldschmidt
Condolence: I am very sorry to see that Peter had passed. I had just seen someone else perform on a 12 string guitar and my thoughts immediately went to Peter. He had performed for us many times at The Olde English Parlour in Stratford. Was always amazing to see and listen to him play that amazing guitar. This world will miss his big smile, smooth voice, and amazing guitar skills. He will thoroughly be missed!

Condolence: We just heard about Peter's passing. I'm sorry that he died too soon, and also that I didn't look to write to him before now. We heard him perform in pubs in Ontario when on vacation, and bought his tape as we loved his voice so much. And now, over 30 years later, I wanted to tell him how we STILL enjoy his music, and have for so long. I hope his family is warmed by the thought that Peter touched so many with his music and his heart. And if they are still selling any CDs or tapes he might have recorded, we would buy them, as cassettes are fragile and we don't want to lose this beautiful music. Thank you for sharing him with us.

Condolence: Dear Laurie and Family;

Our deepest sympathy to Laurie and Family.
Peter was such an amazing man. We have beautiful memories of Peter entertaining the whole neighbourhood in our backyard. We will always cherish those fun times especially the "Jake The Peg Gig" he did for all the children including our Grandson Jonathan. He will be deeply missed. RIP
Peter

Condolence: Dear Shaw Family:

I was so saddened to hear of Peter's passing. I was honoured to be one of the founding members of the St. Aloysius Folk Choir in the early '70s, when folk music was first being introduced in Catholic churches. Our choir was the first in this area.

Under Peter's direction, St. Al's Folk Choir became so popular that the 11:00 a.m. mass was filled every Sunday, and attracted more young parishoners than ever before. I have such fond memories of singing for weddings and participating in the recording of the Christmas album, which was completed in Toronto, in one day!

Peter inspired in me a life-long love of singing and playing guitar, which I still do today at age 61! I will always be grateful to him giving me that gift, and I will always remember him with fondness.

Condolence: How proud your family must feel Mr.Shaw with all of the positiveness and joy you have left in so many. That is what being a teacher is all about. Leaving a good mark and memory that will live on with your students forever! Thank you for my year with you. The singing, laughter, music and stories about Australia are a comforting memory that I treasure. I still remember winning a Tasmanian pin in a music drawing contest you had and feeling so proud as you expressed how important that pin was.
My deepest sympathy to all of Mr.Shaw's family and friends. You are all very lucky to have been a part of his life. I am sure he sings in heaven for all those near and dear to him. ❤

Condolence: Dear Shaw family, our sincere condolences on the loss of Peter. He was an amazing teacher, entertainer and person. I was lucky to have been in his first class at St. Francis when he arrived from Australia. We soon fell in love with his Aussie accent and charm. He remained a colleague with my dad and mom for several years. When I became a teacher with the board, I would connect when he was supply teaching. He always had such enthusiasm for teaching and entertaining. When he retired, we continued to connect with him at several retirement homes over the years. He had the residents mesmerized by his singing and antics, always a joy to see. Peter had a very special gift of making everyone he met feel important and special. We will miss his music, his wit and his kindness. God bless him and all of his family. So sorry for your loss.

Condolence: Dear Laurie, Julie, Lisa, Kathleen, Murray, Daniel and Andrew. The loss of Peter is absolutely devastating for the entire family. His strong presence will leave a large void in so many hearts.
He was incredibly kind, generous of himself, and his sense of humour and intelligence will be greatly missed by all of us. He loved us and we loved him. His positive outlook and energy was boundless and he never tired of asking those who loved him how they were and he listened with great interest. He took personal special time with others, and he cared. We will miss him and our thoughts and prayers are with you and your families. Much love, Marilyn, Matt, Nicholas, Megan and Bailey
