Debra Handbury

I met Cathy when I was about 8 years old. I was in foster care at the time and Cathy and her family befriended me when I really needed support. Cathy's strong will was evident back then and it served her well over her lifetime. Discussions with the Atchisons were always interesting and there was always laughter in the end even if we "agreed to disagree"! Cathy's life was not always "picture perfect", but she never let it get her down; she would pick herself up and move on to the next adventure. I have always admired her tenacity, her strength and her curiosity about the world around her. I will always remember travelling around Europe with her when we were in our early 20's. I was getting tired of going into EVERY museum we saw and EVERY old church or castle. Not Cathy; she did not want to miss one opportunity to see and explore something different. I feel blessed to have spent time with her over the years; we had a friendship that was timeless and could always pick up where we left off. I can't even imagine how much you will miss her. My deepest sympathies to her family at this time. Debra.
