Obituary for Dr. Alexander "Mickey" Lowe

Dr. Alexander "Mickey" Lowe
Alexander St Patrick “Mickey” Lowe
(1949-2019)

Dr. Alexander “Mickey” Lowe M.B.B.S. UWI, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by family, on Thursday November 21, 2019 at the age of 70. Beloved husband of Brenda, Loving father of Monique (Michael Todd), Melanie (Chad Buck), Joseph Lowe, and Jay Seibert (Karol). Proud Grandpa of Mia, Richard, Landon, Madison, and Alex. Son of the late James Lowe and Mable Tsang. Dear brother of Conrad, James, Billy, Ann-Marie, Joy, Veronica, and Stephen.

Mickey Lowe was a graduate from STGC, and an avid footballer playing on the 1963 “Colts” Championship team as well as the Manning Cup team. He attended UWI to study medicine and played on the Taylor Hall football side, graduating in 1973. Mickey went on to complete his residency at Preston Infirmary in England, he then returned to Jamaica with his family and continued his career in medicine by starting his own practice in Morant Bay. He volunteered with numerous charities and churches (Missionaries of the Poor, Mustard Seed, St Pious X on Olympic Way). He was an accomplished musician with several published songs (“God Is A Mountain”, “Eli Eli”, “Something Out Of Nothing” to list a few), and his ability to portray his life journey on canvas is unmatched.
Mickey then retired to Canada with his wife Brenda where he continued to touch the lives of many with his service at KW Habilitation, along with St. Mark’s church where he was a member of the choir.

Mickey was a loving and thoughtful, vibrant person who always put others before himself; he will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate enough to be touched by his presence.

Mickey’s family will receive relatives and friends from 5-8pm on Friday, November 29, 2019 at the Henry Walser Funeral Home (visit www.henrywalser.com) in Kitchener. Memorial Mass will be held at St Mark RC Church, 55 Driftwood Dr., Kitchener on Saturday, November 30, 2019 at 11 a.m., reception to follow in the church hall.

As an expression of sympathy, donations to the Grand River Hospital Foundation – Cancer Centre, St. Mark’s RC Church or St Michael’s RC Church would be appreciated by the family.
