Powers, John Gordon
February 28, 1950 - November 5, 2019
With great sadness we announce the death of John Powers. He died with dignity at St. Joseph's Health Centre Guelph. Loving father of Jae Christian Powers. Dear brother of Colleen Patricia Bisset (Peter) and Mary Jane Powers. Predeceased by his father, Dr. Charles Gordon Powers, his mother, Mrs. Allie Powers (Petrinka), sisters, Carol Ann Barnes and Elaine Mary Woods. He will be dearly missed by his many nieces and nephews, his wonderful neighbours as well as his wealth of friendships from around the globe.
John's family would like to thank Dr. Ross McTavish, Dr. Mel Cescon, Dr. Raume, Dr. Hubay and the team at Grand River Cancer Centre as well as Dr. Shafir and her excellent team at St. Joseph's Health Centre in Guelph.
Cremation has taken place as per John's wishes. There will be a private family service at a later date.
John's family will receive relatives and friends on Sunday, November 17, 2019 from 1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick Street, Kitchener, 519-749-8467.
As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Grand River Hospital Foundation - Cancer Centre, St. Joseph's Health Centre Foundation Guelph or the charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family (cards available at the funeral home).
