Ross, Marian Evelyn:

Marian Evelyn Ross, age 96, formerly of Kirkland Lake, Ont., passed away in Kitchener on Oct. 15.
Survived by her children, Carol Ross Williamson (Daniel Narduzzi) of Waterloo, Peggy (Peter) Janson of Bonita Springs, Fla., and Ken Ross of Calgary, five granddaughters, Jennifer Janson, Tara Williamson, Beth Janson, Margaux Williamson and Allison Hazell and 10 great-grandchildren, one brother John (Shirley) MacLeod of Ottawa. Predeceased by her son, Wayne MacLeod Ross, her husband Art Ross, her parents, Kenneth and Bernice MacLeod, her sisters Garneth Morin and Peggy Flicks and brothers Ken MacLeod and Donald MacLeod. She was born in Timmins and spent 51 years in Kirkland Lake, Ont., before moving to Ottawa in 2012 and then Kitchener in 2014. She taught at Kirkland Lake Collegiate and Vocational Institute from 1961 to 1984 before retiring as commercial director of the high school. While in Kirkland Lake she was a volunteer and member of the Blood Donor Clinic with the Red Cross, Trinity United Church Women, K.L. Business and Professional Women’s Club, University Women’s Club and was treasurer on the Trinity United Church board. Mrs. Ross was a graduate of Queen’s University and also taught at Timmins High School for one year and six years at Athen’s District High School in Athens, Ont. She loved traveling and went to Russia, Germany, Austria, England, Scotland, Ireland, France, Hungary, Holland, Israel, South Africa, Kenya, etc. and many places throughout Canada and the United States. She also collected spoons from around the world and had more than 500. For 45 years, she wrote annual Christmas letters in verse, chronicling family events.

The family will receive friends from 3 - 3:45 p.m. on Saturday, October 19, 2019 at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick St., Kitchener, 519-749-8467, followed by a memorial service in the chapel at 4 p.m. Her niece, Pastor Marlice MacLeod of Timmins to officiate. Reception to follow.
