Obituary for Margaret Helen Hibbard (Saunders)

Margaret Hibbard

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Margaret Hibbard (nee Saunders) announces her passing on November 15, 2019, two weeks after her 96th birthday. She has become a butterfly. Margaret is lovingly remembered by her children: Dorothy, Helen (Bruce) Parrott, Don (Maria) French, and Ruth (Brenda Medley). Cherished grandmother to Megan and Ryan Parrott, William French and Sara (Ev) French-Rooke. Great-grandmother to Emily and Jack. Predeceased by her husband Bob (2011). Fondly remembered by nieces and nephews from both the Hibbard and Saunders side of the family and her best friend of over 75 years Violet Sykes. Margaret was the last remaining member of her generation.

Margaret was a "mother" to many people who passed through her life and to the women's field hockey community in the city. She loved to tell stories of her life in Brazil and Mexico to anyone who would listen. She was an active member of St. James Rosemount United Church since moving to Kitchener in 1973.

We would like to thank the staff at Sunnyside - Woodside wing, for their love and support over the past 6 months and during the final hours of her life.

Her family will celebrate her life with a memorial visitation on Friday, November 22, 2019 from 6:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick Street, Kitchener, 519-749-8467. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 23, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at St. James Rosemount United Church, 171 Sherwood Avenue, Kitchener, followed by a reception. Interment at Memory Gardens Cemetery, Breslau.

In lieu of flowers, Margaret has requested donations to the St. James Rosemount United Church - Mission and Service Fund, or a charity of your choice (cards available at the funeral home). In keeping with her wishes, please celebrate her life and wear bright colours, yellow, green, pink and purple were her favourite colours.
