Bews, Barbara (nee Schell):
Passed away, after a 10 year battle with cancer, on Thursday, July 12, 2018 at Freeport Campus of Grand River Hospital at the age of 74. Partner to Klaus Basler for 32 years. Loving Mother to Chris Bews, Roxy (Lionel) Beck and Rob (Teri-Lynne) and Stepmother to Gabriele (Rob) Koch, Christine (Ken) Cameron, Mike (Kate) Basler, Marty (Kim) Basler, Sue and Klaus Jr. (Billie-Jo). Cherished Grandma to Jason (Kim), Lauren (Rob), Britanie (Simon), Timmy, Jenn (Martin), Ellen, James, Sara, Matt, Jordan, Justin, Joshua, Madison, Brianna, Nick, Abby and Great-Grandma to Audrey, Layla, Tyson, Harper and Zofia. Predeceased by her parents, Urban and Dorothy Schell, her brother Douglas, and sister Elizabeth.
Barb was a 43 year member of the Concordia Club. She was known for her knitting, baking (especially her cheesecake), reading, the trailer and her infectious laugh. She adored her family, especially her grandchildren.
Barb's family will receive relatives and friends from 2:00 p.m. - 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday, July 18, 2018 at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick Street, Kitchener, 519-749-8467. The funeral service will be held in the chapel at 3:30 p.m. followed by a reception at the funeral home.
As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family (cards available at the funeral home).
