Obituary for Inge Adelheid Barg (Kriese)

Inge Adelheid Barg (Kriese)
Barg (Kriese), Inge:

Passed away on Monday, November 25, 2019 at Lisaard House at the age of 90.

Beloved Wife of the late Cornelius Barg (2002). Loving Mother of Dave Barg (Jennifer Brazeau-Barg), Marion Dickie (Craig Birmingham), Tim Barg and Foster Daughter Petra Becker. Cherished Oma to Benjamin, Jadon, Josh (Heather), Jacob, Jessie and Jaime-Beth, Johnathen, and Beckey. Dear Sister of Helga Poerschke and Margit Nebel. Also survived by her nieces, nephews, and extended family in Canada and Germany.

Inge was born on September 5, 1929 in Tomaszow, Poland to Theophil and Irma Kriese. During WW 2 she fled with her mother and two younger sisters to Germany. Her Father stayed behind and was taken by the invading communist army to Siberia, never to return to his family. The family lived for 1 year in Lukenwalde, East Germany until the Spring of 1946 when they again fled to Delmenhorst, West Germany.

They attended a small evangelical fellowship where Inge accepted Jesus as her Lord and Saviour at the age of 15. In 1950 they were sponsored by her Uncle Arthur Krieger to come to Canada and settled in Kitchener, Ontario. Inge attended Kitchener Mennonite Brethren Church (a German speaking Congregation) and was baptized in December of 1954.

She enjoyed teaching Sunday School and sang in the church choir where she met Cornelius Barg. They were married on May 19, 1961 and had 41 happy years together. They were blessed with their children and grandchildren.

As a seamstress Inge helped support the family and later devoted her time to quilting and sewing comforters for Mennonite Central Committee for over 25 years. She loved her family and prayed for them daily.

Inge’s favourite Bible Verse was Proverbs 3: 5,6 “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him and He shall direct your paths”

Inge's family will receive relatives and friends from 10 - 10:45 a.m. on Saturday, November 30, 2019 at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick Street, Kitchener, 519-749-8467, followed by a service in the chapel at 11 a.m. Reception to follow. Interment at Parkview.

As expressions of sympathy, donations to Lisaard House or the MCC would be appreciated by the family (cards available at the funeral home).
