Obituary for Sylvia Eva Mader (Knack)

MADER (nee Knack), Sylvia Eva – of Kitchener, passed away, peacefully, on Friday, June 8, 2018 at Highland Place Retirement Home, in her 91st year.

Eva is survived by sister Louise (Marl). Eva is predeceased by her husband, Harold (March 6, 2006), by her parents, Ernest and Amy, her brother Wilbur and (Helen) Knack, and brother-in-law Ron Marchand.

Eva married her school sweetheart Harold Mader, September 20, 1947 at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Kitchener. A life long member of St. Peter’ Lutheran Church and a founding member of Christ the King Lutheran Chapel, Sauble Falls.

Eva was a great supporter of many charities and sewing for the church and others in need. Very fond of her years with her family at the cottage in Sauble Beach (for over 25 years) and at the Marina at Dillon Cove on Georgian Bay (for over 20 years). Many awesome memories of family celebrations, ski-dooing, fishing, hiking, gardening, bowling and rummoli with ‘the girls’.

Both Eva and Harold traveled to Alaska, east and west coasts, Hawaii, California, Germany, Holland, Norway and many more memorable trips with family.

Eva and Harold raised four children in Breslau. She will be lovingly remembered by her family, Donna and Jim (Melchin), Debbie and Jim (Hinschberger), Gerry and Anna, and Glenn and Cheryl. Grandchildren Derek, Amy (Jason), Dean (Mel), Holly (Nick), Tim, Jeff (Angie), Kristina (Tyler), Sandra, Lucas and Garett. Great-grandchildren Alyssa, Zachary, Jakob, Gabrielle, Emma, Natalie, Deklan, Kaelan, Jessa, Neveah, Connor, Hannah and Leah.

A special thank you to all the staff at Highland Place Retirement Home. They all supported and encouraged Eva in good times and bad.

Eva's family will receive relatives and friends from 12:00 p.m. to 12:45 p.m. on Saturday, June 16, 2018 at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick Street, Kitchener, 519-749-8467.
