Obituary for Doris Marian Solmes

SOLMES, Doris Marian (nee. Cunningham)
Passed away to be with her Lord on April 3, 2018 in her 89th year at St. Mary’s General Hospital, with her children by her side.
Predeceased by her loving husband of 52 years, Rev. Reginald Solmes.
Loving mother of Ruth Mill (Bruce) of Waterloo and David Solmes (Julie) of Langley, BC.
Grandmother of Emily Mill, Lucas, Lindsey, and Lauren Solmes.
Born in Peterborough, Doris supported Reg in his ministries in Quebec and Ontario and moved to Kitchener following Reg’s death in 2012, where she enjoyed her new home at Pinehaven Retirement Home and Conestoga Lodge. Many thanks to the kind and caring staff at Conestoga Lodge and to the Emergency and Fifth-floor staff at St. Mary’s.
Visitation will be held at Highland Baptist Church, 135 Highland Rd. W., Kitchener, from 2 p.m. to 2:45 p.m. on Saturday, April 7, 2018, followed by a service celebrating Doris’ life at 3 p.m.
Doris’ family invite you to join them for coffee and conversation in the church hall following the service. Interment will follow at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Doris may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Waterloo Wellington (cards available at the funeral home). Funeral arrangements entrusted to the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 519-749-8467. Visit www.henrywalser.com for Doris' memorial.
