Obituary for John Checkley

Checkley, John
Passed away peacefully, surrounded by family on Saturday, February 3, 2018 at the age of 81 at Innisfree House.

Beloved husband of Sheren (Schultz) Checkley for 47 years. Loving father of Jason (Jennifer) and Erin (Adam). Proud Papa to Miles, Elliott and Jarritt.

Dear brother of June Popps (John), Audrey Peloso (Hugh).

Predeceased by his sister Elaine and her husband Ralph Valeriote.

Jack will be fondly remembered by his many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

John was born in Guelph and grew up on Stevenson Street. He and Sheren moved to Kitchener when they married in 1971. John, also known to many as Jack, enjoyed a successful career as a Salesman with the H.J. Heinz Company for over 30 years. As a Senior Territory Manager, Jack’s territory encompassed a large portion of southwestern Ontario. Jack was very skilled at networking and building relationships with his customers and other sales associates near and far, many of whom became lifelong friends. He also always made time to stop and chat with neighbours and people he would meet out and about in the community. Jack could frequently be found meeting old and new friends for coffee even throughout his later years. After retiring, Jack and Sheren enjoyed trips to many interesting destinations such as Alaska, Spain and the Panama Canal. Jack was an avid sports fan throughout his life, from golf to baseball and his much loved Hockey night in Canada
