Condolences

Condolence From: Patti Tomko
Condolence: I was so very sad to just receive word today of Father Bill’s passing. He was a dear friend of my mother Rosemary (née Monaghan) Tyler and had made many visits out to California from as long as I can remember as a child until we were adults. As my siblings grew older and moved away we always made an effort to all get back home to our parent’s when Father Bill made a visit. He was such a kind and joyful man. He came out and officiated at several of my siblings’ weddings and sadly at our mothers funeral. His voice on the telephone was the last voice my mother heard. He was a loyal and good friend to our family. As my youngest son just tile me when he heard the news, he was the nicest man he had ever met. My condolences to his family and may you Rest In Peace Father Bill.

Condolence From: Bruce & Margaret Fox
Condolence: I worked very closely with Fr. Bill in the mid 1980's when he was Pastor of St. Patrick's here in Bermuda. A wonderful person and a true gentlemen. Fr. Bill and I got along like a house on fire and he always had some very wise words for me which I heeded and took very much to heart. His wonderful and infectious smile and bubbly personality will be very deeply missed. Try not to beat the others too often on the great golf fairways above. Your work here is now done. Rest in peace, thou good and faithful servant.

Not goodbye, Padre - simply farewell - until we meet again.

Condolence: Please accept my sincere condolences on the passing of Fr. Bill. It was an honor to have known such a great person and have called him a friend since meeting at Stella Maris in Bermuda, 19years ago. I, and my whole family, have enjoyed Fr. Bill’s wonderful friendship over the years. He made us smile at our wedding and visited us in England and the USA. He truly was a giving, loving soul! We will truly miss him! May God embrace you in comfort during this difficult time.

Condolence From: Monsignor Paul Zimmer
Condolence: It was with great sadness that I learned of the death of Father Bill. I remember attending his First Mass with my parents, Mark & Barbara Zimmer, way back in 1955. I was always so proud to tell people that my cousin was a priest! Unfortunately I am unable to be in Kitchener for the funeral Mass. Rest in peace priest of Jesus Christ!

Condolence: This is such sad news, Father Bill will be missed. 88 years is a long time, and he was definitely telling long stories and cracking jokes the entire time. I hope he passed away peacefully, he'll be in my thoughts today and on Saturday during the funeral. xo

Will be thinking about him, Grandpa and everyone lots. We'll always have great memories of him, just like we do of Grandpa. xo

Condolence From: Joanne McKenzie (LaFlamme)
Condolence: It was with deep sadness that I learned of Fr. Bill's passing. To so many he was their parish priest--but to me and my sisters he was my dad's (David) brother, our uncle and an integral part of our family history. The old adage 'time waits for no man' couldn't be truer right now as three out of the four of us sisters are out of the country and unable to attend Father's funeral. This is very difficult for us. I can assure you that if we could attend--we would all show up with a penny stuck to our foreheads! That was who Fr. Bill was to us when we were young--the ultimate uncle who "shanghai'ed" us away to Lion Safari and Niagara Falls without our parents and was the master organizer of backyard fun and games. The greatest challenge being who could cross the finish line with the pennys we licked still stuck to our forehead! When I look back at those times now I realize how much he loved kids and all the crazy antics because he too had a fun and crazy side. Over the years he was stationed far away from us but always reconnected on the holidays and showed great interest in how our lives were evolving. it is hard not to think of my dad as I mourn Fr. Bill's passing. Recently, Fr. Bill allowed us to hang on to the 'connection' with our dad for just a little bit longer. Father Bill was such a great story teller and loved to share tales of he and his brothers/sisters, of how he became a priest, what life was like on Major Street, and about how Grandma ended up cooking for the priests at St. Louis. I secretly think he wished he was one of those priests she cooked for because he so loved a good meal! He left us with many expressions that we sisters still use today --none so popular as his infamous greeting "Hello Friendly". We will miss Fr. Bill and will cherish forever his part in our family lore. He lived a long and healthy life and was a faithful disciple, but most importantly, a cherished uncle who has left us with many fond memories. My eldest son was born on Fr. Bill's 60th birthday and will be missed by all three of my children (see condolences below). Our loss is heaven's gain---let the games begin! Rest in Peace Fr. Bill. With love, Joanne

Condolence From: Christine Lang
Condolence: We are very sad over the passing
of Fr. Bill. He was a fun uncle who always took the time to chat with
us ,share a joke or a silly poem. As a young child he would often pick up my sisters and I and take us out on a day’s adventure. A well thought out and planned out activity that had us all laughing the day away. Now, as a mother, we all continued to enjoy his visits where he again never failed to entertain the kids with, often the same silly poems and jokes from days of old. We all enjoyed his visits. He was such a positive happy person. We could all take a page out of his book.

Rest In Peace Fr. Bill as your work here is done.
