Frances Eujean Blake (West)
BLAKE, Frances (nee West)
1925—2018
Passed away peacefully on Friday June 8, 2018 at Parkwood Mennonite Home, Waterloo in her 93rd year. She is survived by her loving husband, Delbert, and children Betti (Steve) Hunt, Robert (Carol), and Tim (Arlene). Frances was born and raised on a farm in Cape Chin North, Ontario, the daughter of the late Earl and Lottie (Rouse) West. She lived on the Bruce Peninsula until she attended Emmanuel Bible College in Kitchener, Ontario. There she met Delbert and married him on July 2, 1951, after graduating in 1950. She was the proud and caring grandmother of nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She will also be fondly remembered by her siblings, in-laws and many nieces and nephews and their families.
Frances’ keen bookkeeping skills led to a number of employment positions throughout her working career, most notably in the offices of Emmanuel Bible College and the Evangelical Missionary Church of Canada. She was a long-time member of Breslau Evangelical Missionary Church where she taught Sunday School and was involved with the Women’s Missionary Society and regularly played the church organ. Her passions were music, reading, Precept Bible studies, sewing, bunka, jigsaw puzzles, trying new recipes and entertaining. In later years, she and Del enjoyed a number of trips to Europe and cottaging at Dyers Bay.
Frances’ family will receive relatives and friends at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick St., Kitchener (519) 749-8467 from 10:00-10:45 am, on Saturday June 16, 2018, followed by the Funeral Service in the chapel at 11:00 am. Reception to follow at the funeral home. A private family interment at the Breslau Mennonite Church cemetery will follow the reception.
In lieu of flowers, donations to Emmanuel Bible College or the Alzheimer Society (cards available at the funeral home) will be appreciated by the family. Please visit www.henrywalser.com to view Frances’ memorial.
The entire family would like to extend their deeply-felt thanks and gratitude to the Parkwood staff in Snyder’s Corner for their care and support of Frances during the last 3 1/2 years.
