Obituary for Stefan Grzegorczyk

Stefan Grzegorczyk
Grzegorczyk, Stefan:

Passed away peacefully on Friday, February 2nd, 2018 at The Village at University Gates at the age of 87.
Beloved husband of Cornelia for 60 years.
Loving father of Andre (Joan) and Rene (Norma-Joy).
Cherished Opa of Ian and Neil.
Survived by his sister-in-law, Wanda.
Predeceased by his brother, Marian.

Like his wife, Stefan grew up in the Netherlands as a teenager during WWII, the son of Polish parents who moved to Holland in the late twenties in search of work. He had an excellent ear for music and knack for languages. As a young man, he played the clarinet and accordion in a small Big Band style group with 5 of his best friends. He was fluent in Polish, Dutch, German and English. Stefan and Cornelia immigrated to Canada in 1960, raised two sons while always living in the KW area. Proud owner of their first home and his new Pontiac in 1965/66. Shortly thereafter Stefan and Cornelia fully committed to staying in Canada by obtaining their citizenship. Retiring from the Michelin Tire Company left a few years of travel before his health slowed him down. He spent his retirement years playing the electric organ and enjoying a quiet lifestyle in Waterloo with his family and two grandsons.

Stefan's family will receive relatives and friends from 10:00 am - 10:45 am on Friday, February 9th, 2018 at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick Street, Kitchener, 519-749-8467. A memorial service will take place in the funeral home chapel immediately following visitation, Reception to follow. Interment at Memory Gardens Cemetery. Cremation has taken place.

As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Parkinson Society of Southwestern Ontario would be appreciated by the family (cards available at the funeral home).
