The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Stanley Iwan can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Thank you.

Condolence: Dr. Iwan was a mentor when I worked with him at the WSIB REC at GRH up to 2013. A wonderful man. Rest in peace.

Condolence: Dr Iwan was a kind soul who always had a warm smile and hello every time you saw him walk the halls of Grand River Hospital. I always enjoyed his sense of humour as he chatted in the Imaging department with one of his radiologist buddies, Dr. Dave Brattman. Fond memories, my sympathy to your family.

Condolence: To the family of Dr. Iwan: In 1968, I was involved in an auto accident due to dense fog. In addition to multiple injuries, I was in a coma for seven days. Dr. Iwan was the neurosurgeon who attended me - so I’m told. Never having the opportunity to express my gratitude to him, I would like to thank him, through you, for his healing abilities. I believe I survived because of your father. I extend my condolences to you. Dr. Iwan will always be part of who I am.

Condolence: The Iwan house was always a warm and welcoming home anchored by Stan who was always kind and generous to all that entered. Even after a full day of work he was most happy cooking a meal for whoever happened to be there. Conversations were lively and not necessarily for the timid but, always respectful. A wonderful man who raised a great family and contributed to his community leaving a lasting legacy.
