1ST ANNIVERSARY

Dad,

I thought the day you died was hard, I thought all the 1st occassions without your were hard BUT that is nothing compared to how I feel today . I think I just tried to get through all special ocassions without you and I did but today is like I am really saying goodbye which I have not done yet.

I miss the hole that you have left behind that no one else can fill and the emptiness in my heart. I am happy that you are no long suffering but I was not ready to let you go. Sometimes memories of you sneak out my eyes and roll down my cheeks and then I think of something that will make me smile. I have tried so hard to hold back the tears but I think now I will just let them flow as I know you are in a better place. Your life at the end was a battle, one you could not win, a fight against a demon, no choice but to give in.

Your life has ended, but your legacy of wisdom, integrity and courage will go on forever.
