Sikstulis, Joseph 'Joe':
Joe passed in peace, at his home in Kitchener, Ontario on Thursday, June 28, 2018 at the age of 95. He was born on February 10, 1923 in a small town in Latvia. Following WWII, Joe immigrated to Canada and spent his work life in the lumber mills in Northern Ontario. He retired to Kitchener and for many years shared a home with his cherished friends John and Gladys Balins until their passing in 2013. Joe is survived by his adoptive family Jozef and Elzbieta Twerd, Suzanne Ring and Celeste Van Doesburg, and also his dear neighbour Herold Merckel. Joe had a passion for sports. An avid Blue Jays fan, nothing was allowed to interfere with the opportunity to watch a game. He was a true gentleman and will be lovingly remembered for his quiet dignity, kindness, and his love of nature.
Joe's family will receive relatives and friends from 6 p.m. - 9 p.m. on Monday, July 2, 2018 at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick Street, Kitchener, 519-749-8467. Prayers at the funeral home at 8:30 p.m. Monday. Funeral mass will be held at Blessed Sacrament RC Church, 305 Laurentian Dr., Kitchener on Tuesday, July 3, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. Interment Williamsburg Cemetery, Kitchener.
